Rv Awnings Have Come a Long Way
When I think of RV awnings, a picture comes to my mind of the one on my family’s 24’
Travel trailer from 20 years ago. It had green and purple stripes, and the arms were silver. When getting ready to move the camper, we had to tie up the arms so they did not come loose on the road. That happened sometimes.
Today, not only the awnings themselves have improved, but the awning customer has lots of choices. You can still choose the striped vinyl for your awning, but they are also available in checkered flag vinyl, and solid colors that fades to white near the top of the awning. You may want an acrylic fabric in vivid colors that will not mildew, fade, or deteriorate. Awnings are available with a metal wrap to protect the fabric when not in use.
Hardware for awnings have improved, too. Most arms have single track sliders which eliminate binding, and self locking handles that makes it easy to tell when the arm is locked. Many include a lock for extra security while traveling. Some have a built in light in the roller tube. Plus, you have a choice of hardware colors. New awnings also may include built in awning de-flappers to stop the annoying wind noise on windy days.
There are lots of add-ons you can get for your RV awning, Center supports help keep the roller tube from bending when open, and a support added on your RV will keep it secure and supported while closed. Rafters added to the center support will keep the fabric from sagging. Rafters and center supports should be used on all awnings over 20’ long. Electric or 12 volt awning hardware allows you to open or close your awning with the push of a button or with a remote. You can even get a motion detection system that will automatically retract the awning when it bounces, eliminating wind and rain damage! Screen rooms increase your living area and allow you to enjoy the outside without fighting flies and mosquitoes. Screen rooms come with zippered doorways, but are available with hard side aluminum screen doors, and vinyl drop down side panels for extra sleeping room privacy.
Awnings come in all shapes sizes and colors. They are used on pop-up tent campers, travel trailers, fifth wheels, motor homes, buses, work trailers, and even houses! They are installed over doors, windows, toy hauler ramps, and slide out rooms. Awnings are a great addition to your camping trip, and have come a long way in the last 20 years.

I am looking for a small travel trailer.....?
Hi, I would like to know of brands for small travel trailers. There is just two of us and a baby, but we would like to sleep around 4 people. We also need to have a bathroom/shower because many places we like to go need a self reliant "camper". I have seen some cute tear drop models and things like that, does anyone know the manufactuers of things like this? Also where is a great site to get used ones? I also like the chalet hard top pop up but there is only a large one with a toilet. I am looking for a cheap price, but something nice. Any ideas?
T@B is the best of the small ones. Not sure about bathrooms because that adds a lot of weight.
oh, wait they have a bigger version too...
