How to persuade my parents to allow me to have a drum kit (Been playing 3 years)?
I've been playing drums for just over three years now. And am taking a challenging grade (7) and really need some drums to practice on. During the past three years I've accepted that my parents don't want noise. I'm willing to compromise for the times I'm allowed to practice. My last grade was grade four last year. And I used the school's drum kit to practice 3 hours every night after school. However, my music teacher has had to say no this year, I don't know why. So I can't get any practice except for my one drum lesson a week, which lasts half an hour. I do try and make a copy of one using pots and pans. But it doesn't work. I really need a drum kit to practice on. And usually all the other kids getting drum lessons get a drum kit within months of playing. I've been playing years. And I really need the practice. How can I convince them to let me get one?
Try getting a practice pad. They're fairly cheap and depending on the brand that you get, they can be pretty quiet. I know it's not as good as the real thing but it's better than nothing.
