Math question. Im so lost!!! =(?

Ok. So my Tech. teacher asked me and my partner a question and we dont know how to answer it. Im in school right now too. We got 2.826 for the width of our mag lev train blue prints. He asked if it matched 2 6/8in.(the width of our guide way.) Does it match? I SUCK at math!!! 3:K

6/8 = 3/4 = 0.75

so,

2.75 does not equal 2.826
