Toddler crying non stop in pre school?
My toddler is 3 years old. She went to a family care from 8 months till a few weeks ago.
We put her in a bigger day care early January so she would get used to other kids in a bigger environment. She cried each day in the daycare and would not sleep. After lots of complaints from her preschool, we felt that it was not the right environment for her.
We found a smaller montessori with a much lower student teacher ratio and put her in for a half day programme. It has been one and half weeks in the new montessori. Her caregivers say that she is crying non stop and wants to go home. She is very adamant and won't listen to them nor would participate in any activity.
Today I was told that unless my toddler stops crying within the next week, we will have to withdraw my toddler from the montessori.
When I ask my toddler why she cries in montessori, she says she is afraid.
How do I help her? Is she not ready for pre school yet? What should I do?
I would stop and check at the school to see what is happening when you are not there (probably nothing but it will easy your mind). I would give her something special of yours to have while she is at school and when she gets picked up she can give it to you and get it back tomorrow when she goes to school. She could be scared that she is going to be left. I would keep asking her the question of why she does not like school and why she is crying and keep telling her she is mommy's big girl and big girls go to school. Good Luck!!
